About the exhibition

Fleeting Memories is the product of a yearlong digital drawing project by Emma Thorp. On each day of 2022 the artist drew a digital drawing companioned by a short story. The objective of this drawing process was to champion the small, and often forgotten everyday moments that make up our lives. This exhibition is designed to be hung in a month-by-month calendar format, and each image is printed individually on thick office paper. Over 40 of the images on display are still-images taken from micro animations created as a part of the yearlong drawing project. These animations also form part of the exhibition and can be displayed in a looping 8 minute format via projector or digital screen. As an extension of the idea that memories are fleeting, each image is given away for free at the end of the exhibition to the audience members if they write a small note indicating why a piece spoke to them. It is the artist’s desire that giving her memories away inspires the audience to value and record their own.
